Description

This Knitting Course is aimed at beginners and improvers. You will learn or improve skills to:

• cast on
• knit and purl stitches
• garter and stocking
• cast off
• how to choose needle size and wool weight
• how to read a simple pattern.

You can choose your project between a square to knit multiples and create a blanket, or keep knitting to create a scarf. For improvers your could choose a rib or Sophie scarf pattern or something else entirely is also an option. All materials are included and the yarn and needles are yours to take home along with your project.

Knitting, once mastered is such a mindful and relaxing pastime. I have been knitting for nearly 50 years and it’s still my go to when I want to switch off the noise in my head. But it also keeps the head working with stitch and row counting, following patterns, picking textures and colours. Finally it taps into all the traditional crafts that anchored our ancestors through a necessity to clothe themselves but that we are fortunate enough to do for fun and for calm.
I often think of my Nan when I knit.

Tea and coffee are included. The Workshop takes place at Artisam Studio 255, 255 Repton Road, Orpington, BR6 9JD. A relaxed studio close to Chelsfield station in Orpington.
